Whether you love him or hate him, we can all agree that Cristiano Ronaldo has been incredibly consistent ever since he arrived at Real Madrid in the summer of 2009. He’s broken most records at Real Madrid: Most hat-tricks in team history, Champions League record goal scorer for the club, Real Madrid’s all time top scorer to name a few records. But as of late, Ronaldo has had a bit of a downfall. Frustration shows in his face whenever he’s having trouble scoring. The frustration reflects in his teammates as well. 

Cristiano Ronaldo unleashed his fury on Sunday against Real Sociedad netting a goal and assisting on the first of the three goals. But Cristiano did it with a chip on his shoulder. Ever since he started performing at a lower level, the fans at the Santiago Bernabeu have booed and whistled him constantly. They claim that the Portuguese star looks “lazy” and he “walks the pitch”. It’s clear that Ronaldo hasn’t been at his best for the last few months and you can attribute that to injuries and the fact that he is 32-years-old so age is catching up to him. But Ronaldo had a very unique way to respond to the crowd. After his goal he went over to the section that was causing all the ruckus and called them “Motherf*****s” while celebrating. 

It seems as if part of the Real Madrid fan base has forgotten that Cristiano Ronaldo is a huge reason as to why they’ve won two Champions Leagues in the last three seasons. Sure, he’s not as good as he was two years ago, but he still scores.. a lot. The fans look like they’re biting the hand that once fed them.-Alex Perez
